Ongoing Emission Reduction

We actively track and manage our emissions to best ensure our sustainability initiatives are making a positive impact. By refining our strategies based on accurate emission data, we aim to achieve our environmental goals and reduce our carbon footprint through the following key strategies:

• Energy Efficiency: We optimise our buildings with insulation and blinds, utilise energy-efficient appliances, and maintain low-wattage LED lighting to reduce energy consumption.
• Renewable Energy: Our 40kW solar panel system harnesses renewable energy, allowing us to supply excess power back to the grid.
• Local Sourcing and Packaging: By prioritising local products, we minimise transport emissions and use recyclable, biodegradable packaging to reduce waste.

Water Preservation

Like the entire Tamborine Mountain community, we rely on rainwater collected in on-site water tanks to conserve precious fresh water. To further optimise water use and minimise evaporation, we implement the following techniques:

• Rainwater Utilisation: Collected rainwater is used not only for toilets but also for landscaping, reducing our reliance on mains water.
• Water-Efficient Appliances: We have installed water-efficient fixtures and appliances to ensure minimal consumption throughout our facility.
• Mulching Techniques: By applying mulch in our gardens, we enhance soil moisture retention and reduce evaporation.
• Targeted Watering Practices: We employ targeted watering practices, ensuring that plants receive the necessary hydration without wasting water.

Efficient Waste Management

We’ve implemented comprehensive waste management practices to minimise our environmental impact:

  • Green Waste/Compost: We compost fruit and vegetable scraps from our production process, enriching the soil and reducing landfill waste.
  • Recycling: We actively sort and recycle paper and cardboard waste and use 100% recycled corrugated cardboard and eco-friendly corn-based bio-fill packing materials.
  • Wastewater Treatment: Our facility employs an efficient wastewater treatment system that ensures any water used in our processes is properly treated before being returned to the environment, protecting local waterways and ecosystems.
  • Containers for Change: Partnering with Containers for Change, we have placed 10c collection bins throughout our facility to encourage responsible recycling of glass, plastic and aluminium drink containers.
  • Office Practices: We are committed to reducing paper usage by reusing and recycling office supplies, and manage e-waste through designated recycling programs.
  • No More Single-Use Plastics: In our tasting room and bar, we've transitioned from single-use plastic cutlery and straws to more sustainable options like metallic straws and biodegradable cardboard alternatives.

Energy Efficiency

We harness renewable energy through our solar panels and are committed to increasing our solar capacity. All electrical appliances in our facility are energy-efficient, helping to reduce unnecessary consumption.

Supporting Local and Sustainable Suppliers

Our Green Supplier Policy prioritises partnerships with local and environmentally responsible suppliers, ensuring that our ingredients and materials support sustainable practices and contribute to the local economy.

Community and Cultural Engagement
